Mere Journey Ke Bare Main Jitna Bolun Kam Hai LOL.  My journey in the world of acting began with theatre and my own group called Ankur in which we did hindi plays.  Unfortunately though hindi plays have never gotten much commercial success but we as actors used to get a lot of personal satisfaction.  I also have done many street plays and our theatre group had even tied up with the rotary club of Juhu.  Today looking back on those definitely brings a smile on my face

I really feel like I learned so much about acting from those days like on the spot reaction, improvising instantly and the craft of entertaining audiences.  However, since there was no money to be made in hindi plays, everyone went their own ways and I started giving auditions and approaching production houses by distributing my pictures.  Meanwhile when I did not have work as an actor, I started editing and dubbing.  There had been a Govindas Mahindra Tractor ad which I had edited and dubbed - this is not 'dubbing' for voice but more like monitoring and overseeing the dubbing process.

Then one day one more audition came my way - the one from Balaji!  Balaji had distributed a list of requirements of people from a particular age group they were looking for and I was lucky enough to get a call.  And that's when my on screen journey began with Ghar Ek Mandir.  Then came Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli followed by Kahin Kisi Roz and then finally my main lead role Kutumb. I feel very lucky and blessed to have gotten Kutumb because though people knew before that there is a Hiten Tejwani that exists, it is this show that gave me my major break and allowed me to connect with the audience the most.

It is also on this show that I got to work with Gauri and people loved our chemistry together. And soon reel life turned into real life

My journey in the world of entertainment began initially with modeling as after my 12th. exams in Pune when I joined the Ace Academy for charismatic excellence just as a pass time during my vacations.  Eventually I ended up starting my modeling career in Pune as I started to get small offers.  The next turn in my journey came when I decided to take part in Ms. India and ended up being one of the finalists and started to get many offers.  The commute between Pune and Bombay was becoming more and more difficult, so I convinced my parents to let me stay in Bombay for a while. They were very worried and they used to call 10 times a day to know how I am doing and if I am fine.

Since them I have lived on my own and only used to go back to Pune for holidays.  But after a while I was tired of modeling and thought of going back to Pune to finish my studies.  Then one day I had gone to a party with my land lady where a friend of hers spotted me and asked me would you be interested in acting?  I blatantly said NO!  I was told Cinevistaas was looking for someone for Noor Jahan and that they had auditioned over 200 girls but not been able to select one and I was told that I would suit the role so I should give it a try.  I finally said yeah yeah but really didn't take the guy seriously.  He told my land lady to convince me somehow just for a meeting and so I spoke to my parents and they told me go ahead and give it a try.

I ultimately found the offer to be very interesting as I had to learn things like horse riding, sword fighting, and urdu.  I accepted the offer and started acting after having taken training classes in acting which eventually I found to be a waste so I stopped going.  Noor Jahan did very well and once the show ended, I ended up going on a vacation with my friends and went on my first trip abroad to US and England.  It was a great trip and after 40 days when I was back, I got a call from Balaji.  I was still in holiday mood and didn't want to go so I just kept on procrastinating it without being really serious about it. But then as one says, destiny plays its own game and finally Kutumb happened just to meet this clown LOL

Gauri: Before Kutumb, as everyone knows, we did an ad together. I first saw him at the airport where he was having his usual chewing gum.

Hiten:
And she was looking like those typical 'leave me alone' type models. We then had a very filmy interaction in the flight. She was coming from one side and me from the other leading us to bumping into each other. I obviously apologized but the look I got...woohhh....I get those looks till date! LOL

Gauri:
I obviously had no clue that we were going to be working with each other very soon. We then landed in Hyderabad and got introduced by our co-workers.

Hiten:
I was doing my usual mischief and having fun with everyone. She would be sitting in her corner reading a book least bothered about what's happening around her. It seemed as if she had a 'do not disturb' board next to her. LOL I soon understood that my co-star would not like to be disturbed and so even I did not bother much. I then too remember that she had to do a step for the ad and before she started I just gave her an 'all the best'  Thumbs Up look from far unknown of the fact that the next killer look was just coming my way. She looked at me as if she was thinking 'You! Who are you? Who the hell are you to wish me best of luck? LOL

Gauri:
Rubbish! But then as it's a small world at the end of the day. We met again for Kutumb. For the first six months we did not talk much. Just the usual 'hi' and 'bye'! I would come and leave on time, and he would keep doing his usual mischief.

Hiten: But then one fine day when I was yet doing my masti-mazak, after 6 months, Gauri laughed!!! Shocked  I was like, this girl finally laughed on my jokes!!! We then started talking and interacting with each other. And finally started seeing each other which went on for one and a half year.

Gauri: None of us really proposed to each other. It was understood that we have to be with each other. He told his parents and I told mine. There were no problems at all. And we finally tied the knot on 29th April 2004.

Hiten: Yes, 5 years are up but it just doesn't seem so! And the best part of our relationship is that none of us have tried to change each other. We have accepted each other the way we are. So, yeh hai hamari kahaani!
