Khausuay
A Burmese dish which is supposed to be eaten with noodles. All my friends love it when I make it for them! So do try it out.
Ingredients:2 kg of Chicken
½ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
Red Chillies
18-20 medium sized Onions
30-40 red chilies
Spring Onions
Coconut Milk
Garlic
Coriander
Lemon
Boiled eggs
Noodles and/or Rice
Method:1. First, take 2 kg of chicken and boil it in a pot of water with a ½ teaspoon of salt and turmeric powder
2. After boiling, don't drain the water. Save it.
3. Then shred the chicken and marinate it for ½ hour with 18-20 medium sized onions and 30-40 red chilies.
4. After shredding the chicken, put the bones back into the water and boil it for ½ hour
5. Then you remove the bones and keep that water because the chicken will be cooked in that water.
6. After the marinating is over, you chop up a medium sized onion. Put a spoon of oil and fry the onions in that oil. After that put the marinated chicken along with the other ingredients in the water.
7. Boil it anywhere from half an hour to an hour. Keep checking to see if its boiled properly.
8. Just before you off the stove, you have to add a tiny bit of coconut milk into it. After a few minutes, you can turn the stove off.
Now time for the garnishing! It's a little tedious but surely worth it
1. Finely chop and fry lots of garlic in oil and make it little crispy and red.
2. After that, chop the onions vertically and fry them. Make these red and crispy as well but be sure they are not soggy.
3. Then finely chop lots of coriander
4. You need lots of lemon pieces, boiled eggs and finely chopped spring onions
5. Once the chicken is done you can eat it with usually noodles or even rice.
6. Put the chicken on noodles/rice and garnish it with the fried onions, fried garlic, finely chopped spring onions, coriander, boiled eggs and lots of lime. That's it, finito!
Personally, I like it with rice and Hiten likes it with noodles. I hope you all enjoy! Do let me know....
